THOUGHTS
Look back here for assorted mindless verbal wandering. See ya soon. SB
September 6th. What's up folks? Hope you made it through the long weekend alright. Things are good here. Played at the CHOP SHOP in Seabrook with RockFish on Thursday. I think we're going to be the new house band on Thursday nights so that should be a blast. The bar is cool, owner's cool, the people that were there that night were cool. Next stop for the fish is Uncle Eddies in Salisbury on Sept. 11th. And then we're playing New England Seafood in Methuen on the 25th. Come check us out.
In non music news I scheduled to take the first 2 parts of the CPA exam. October 8th is F.A.R. and November 26th is B.E.C. Now that things are real i'm going to try and step up the studying even more. Going to try and average 4 hours a day. This morning, up at 5, studied till 615, after work went to the Newburyport Library and studied for a couple of hours, then over to Planet Fitness to read on the treadmill for an hour. Going to study a little B.E.C. before bed tonight, I am a rockstar!!!!!!!!
August 27th. Couple hours before heading to the club. First gig with Salt Soup tonight. It should go well. If not i'm hoping the howling from the wind outside will drowned out all of our mistakes and uncalculated harmonic permutations. Hope at least half of you who said you were coming still manage to make it out tonight, it hasn't started raining yet, and probably won't until just about the time we have to start breaking down our gear and heading for home. I love being a gigging musician. I can't wait till Bill Gates or Steve Jobs designs a carbon fiber, water proof bass amp that weighs 6 pounds has clear delivery to reproduce all the sounds of the B string on Greg's 5 string bass and will last for 10 years. A man can dream.
August 14th. Just got home from my first gig in ages. Rockfish tore it up at Shooter's in Exeter. We included the never before rehearsed DETROIT ROCK CITY in our set list which was entertaining to say the least. I was trying to remember the last time I played that song. I think it was in the old Brandt Theater with Vinny, Chad and Steve back in the 90's. Legal flashback or what? Speaking of flashbook i have to thank Sweeney and Chantal for making the trek from the other side of Merrimack to come check out the band, and special thanks to Sweeney for the inspiration for the name of my other band, SALT SOUP. And in the are you crazy department, my friend Sonny drove to Maine this morning with his family, then drove home to Milford, NH then drove back to Exeter to check out the band. The rest of you lazy sob's have no more excuses, lol. And another thing......i had another flashback. Upon showing up at the club tonight I was informed that I got the side of the stage where the ceiling was leaking because of condensation from the A/C system, it reminded me of the time the Mudshark played the Living Room in Providence. Huge stage with a hole in the middle of it cause by the leaking rain water that was now being collected in the saggin piece of plastic taped to the ceiling. Not to worry though the hole was covered with a rug and no one told us about it. Surrounding the stage was 50,000 watts of sound and dozens of admiring listeners so the gig went well. I think Rattlehead records hooked us up that night. What's up Sean? Still pluggin away in Providence? It's late. I'm going to bed.
July 30, 2011. UPDATE. Unfortunately, I am no longer in Vital Signs, we sadly couldn't find a common musical ground. Better to step aside than try to fit a square peg in a round hole. On the upside though Rockfish is ready to rock. We're playing August 13th at Shooter's in Exeter. I've never played there so i'm hoping my first time won't be my last. So DVR your favorite TV show and come watch me do the one thing that I do best...play bass. Well, it's actually one of the 2 things I do best. Play bass and eat a ham sammich. Mayo only, no veggies. Or as Joe calls it, "a boring." Speaking of Joe, George, and Dale, the other members of SALT SOUP, we're finalizing a date to play at the Hen House in Newton. We're hoping to pack the house for Henry and the gang there, so once I post the date change all your plans and come down and hear us play some funk, rock, blues and soul. I'm personally singing songs by Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Los Lonely Boys and yes...you've been asking for it for years. Tracy Chapman, lol.
BTW, isn't salt soup the greatest name for a band ever. I have a friend out there who would once in a while join me in telling tales of our upbringing, and the famous way we'd explain it was that we remember going to bed after eating our dinner which consisted of Salt Soup and wish sandwiches. Warm water and salt, two pieces of bread and a wish that there was something in between. Ever had a miracle whip sandwich?? how bout Ketchup and Jelly?? No?? Yes?? Go wake up your kids and tell them how spoiled they are, lol. And give yourself a pat on the back for keeping all the food covered in plain white rappers with black block lettering far away from your cubbard. And don't get me started on government cheese.
Stacy Bugg is almost a CPA, by the time you read this I will have completed all my classes and testing to get my Master's in Accounting. I sent out my app to sit for the CPA exam last week so i'm just waiting for my NTS, notice to sit. 4 sections around 4 hours of testing for each session. Can you say fun, fun, fun? Right brain and Left brain firing on all cylinders boys and girls. It's kinda cool.
I'll see ya soon.
July 23, 2011. I heard you missed me, i'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. And back in a big way i must say. I'm 3 class visits away from getting my Master's in Accounting and it's about frickin time. In anticipation of all that free time i put out some feelers and have found a few bands that are in need of my skills. I am now a member of Vital Signs, Rockfish and a 3rd unit that is in the naming process, lol. I wanted Squirrel Pants, but for some reason the other guys in the band didn't get the comic ramifications associated with the marketing material we could design. Looks like it's going to be a busy year, hope to see you there.
January something 2011. there's like 208 inches of snow outside my window right now, give or take a foot or 12. I hate snow. But love ice cream. go figure. My latest thought is on one of the weirdest things i've seen in a while. In the bathroom at work, right in front of the toilet, someone has placed one of those chrome conference chairs with the grey padding on the back and bottom. The kind you'd find at a conference room at the Marriott. For the life of me I really don't know why. So far i've come up with 2 reasons. One, maybe the person before me needed some kind of leverage to help fully handle the situation. I would say to this person...seek help quick, I mean i've eaten at Denny's before and didn't need this kind of assistance, I don't know what diet they're on but that's not right. That's just not right. OR...maybe they needed a coach. Someone to inspire them to great lengths or something equally disgusting. "Come on!! You can doot it!!! Deep breath, now push.....ya that's it, PUSH!!!!! Come on!!! What kind of man are you??? I've seen more impressive bowl movements coming out the back of my cocker spaniel, PUSH IT!!!!!!!!!! Good Job, Good Job. Now wipe twice, wash your hands, and let's get you something to drink, you must be exhausted after all that."
July 18th. What's up folks? I was trolling the internet this morning and came across a great site for bassists that i thought i'd share with you http://www.instituteofbass.com it has great interviews and lessons and words of wisdom from great bassists from all over the world. Including Jim Stinnett,
some of you might know him as the producer of the Amazing Mudsharks album 3. Definetely Check out what he has to offer. .
July 17th ALL HAIL BON JOVI. Nope, never thought i'd say it, but after seeing the video on the news the other night, John Bon Jovi is my new hero. For those who don't know what i'm talking about, a few nights ago their was a video shown on the news where Bon Jovi was in concert rockin out to whatever new country flavored pop song they're trying to hawk this week, well at some point something happens to his left leg, and he's in obvious pain but he keeps singing and limping around. Turns out he tore a calf muscle...and he finished the whole show. That's pretty tough in my book. Not only did he have to find the courage to sing Raise your hands and Born to be my baby, but to do so while obviously in a lot of pain. Kudos JBJ.
June 16th. Wow. It's been a long time since i've written. First off, you see that Feb 23rd entry...ya, well i'm in neither one of those bands anymore. Driven because i've moved to a secret location far, far away from their home base in Milford, and Friday Addiction because i've reached the point where Mustang Sally and Pour Some Sugar On Me in the same set just sucks.....60 years of popular music to choose from should yield better results.
Anyways, about my new secret location. I've built a lab where i'm trying to modify one of those big front loader trash trucks. Instead of running on diesel i'm trying to get it to run on Toyota Prius' and Honda Insights. Not all of them, just the ones who insist on driving 60 in the high speed lane. MOVE!!!!!! DAMN IT!!!!! I've got places to be and fuel to burn through. Once my machine is done it will simply lift them into the back and dump them, then a compactor will crush them flat and finally a special chemical will be added that liquifies their pretenciousness and air of superiority and it will drain directly into the fuel supply. Family photos and small, yapping lap dogs will be ejected out a special hole. I expect to get at least 40 miles to the stuck up owner, 60 if it's a stuck up couple. It's gonna revolutionize the world. Think of the traffic reduction and the lowering of dependency on foreign oil. SUV owners rejoice, i'm here for you. I'll let you know how testing goes.
February 24th. Here's a thought for the day. "WAKE UP. THE HOUR HAS COME TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE. CHANGE THIS WORLD BY STARTING WITH YOURSELF. THE WORLD IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE UNTIL YOU CHANGE." Dr. Betty Shabazz. If you don't know who she is. tsk, tsk, tsk. Read a book.
February 23rd. So i've joined both Driven and Friday Addiction and things are going well. Turns out I remember how to play bass, and sing a little. Now I just have to relearn the steps to the Macarena and my return will be complete. A friend recently sent me one of those horoscope personality things...and all i have to say is, I couldn't have put this better my self

January 7th 2010.
Finally..........after an 9 month absence from the stage i'll be joining Jimmy Mariany from the band Driven, and drum instructor/music store owner Jeff Harrington of Indie Music in Milford, NH this friday at Shenanigan's in Milford, NH. We'll be playing all the songs that we could remember as a group during our one and only rehearsal this past tuesday...so it should be, as we say in the business....a little loose. But i'm confident we'll be able to not suck for 3 hours.
Jamaica was awesome by the way....well not the scenes of poverty that bombarded me the minute i left the airport grounds but the rest was great. Everywhere I looked it looked like a postcard. I haven't quite figured out yet how to be able to make a living there, but the moment i do...i'm out of here mon. I actually did get up and play with a couple of the other guys at the resort. The reggae band laughed at us as we hacked our way through whatever tunes the guitarist could almost remember and barely perform. There are pictures circulating somewhere...when i find them i'll post them.
Lastly, my new year's resolution for 2010 is pretty simple. I'm going to remember that human beings on this earth killed Jesus Christ....who am I to think that they're gonna treat my black ass any better.
Bugg.
December 22nd and all is awesome. Leaving for my maiden voyage to Negril, Jamaica tomorrow for a week of sun and fun. Man. Do i need a tan. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaah
On the music front it's 90% confirmed i'll be performing with the band Driven, from Wilton, NH at Shenanigan's in Milford, NH on January 8th. After a 2 year hiatus from the fulltime pursuit of state, studio and radio i'm back at it.
Have a safe and happy holiday. Look forward to sharing my adventures with ya real soon.
Stacy .
October 9th 2009-Absolutely, Positively, nothing going on musically. About 2 weeks ago, me and Charles B Davis, along with Mike Freiberger and Micha sat in on an open mic night at Slammer's in Bedford. It felt great to be on stage...but man i don't miss the hassles of rehearsals and scheduling and booking gigs and loading gear in and out in the winter time. BUTTTTTTTT i think i'm ready to be miserable again. Studies for my Master's in Accounting are going well and aren't too overwhelming so that leaves me time and energy to get gigging SSSSOOOOOOO if you know anyone looking for a bassist tell em to look me up.
Happy birthday Mess.....Sweeney.....and all you other October birthday folks I know.
July 12th I would hereby like to claim my spot as the smartest man on earth. I have answered the question which came first, the chicken or the egg. It was the chicken. I say they used to lay their young ones live, but had a high mortality rate and through necessity the egg evolved in order to protect young chicks from the hostile environment around them, thus continuing the species.
On a lighter note, the jazz fest this year was incredible. I actually sat still long enough to enjoy multiple kick ass bands. Drummer Tyler Hornby, Lily Frost and the Debonairs, Chocolate Thunder, among others.
June 28th....What kind of musician would I be if I didn't comment on the death of Michael Jackson? All i have to say is....if he was guilty of touching those little boys then I hope he's burning in hell and his death was painful. If he was innocent then I truly hope he has finally found the peace that surely escaped him while he was here among us.
And now I have questions....do you think if Mike went to hell, when he looks in the mirror down there does he see his Black self, or the Brooke Shields wanna be self? Is his nose full again and are his lips plump. Did the bass come back in his voice? I wonder if he sounds like Barry White now. Imagine Barry White singing Thriller...now that's a hit. If he's in heaven, do you think people are just staring and pointing? Hendrix is probably gonna kick his ass. Miles Davis is just gonna stare and shake his head.
If you don't own Thriller or Off the wall, you should definetely go pick em up, they are great albums full of great songs played by great musician's.
Speaking of great musician's. I was watching a DVD of the legendary jazz drummer, Buddy Rich yesterday. They said that 54 days after quadruple bypass surgery he got on a plane and flew overseas to play a gig at a friends club opening and he was in his his late 60's at the time. Holy Smokes. It just goes to show how truly great some people are and how truly lazy the rest of the planet is. NOW GET OFF YOUR ASS AND DO SOMETHING. Thank You..buy my cd.
Stacy
June 7th...Tsup all. Sorry to inform you that my attempt to eat a Carvel Ice Cream Cake bigger than my head has failed. I'm back in training though, maybe i'll have better luck next year.
April 14th...I'm unhappy to announce that I have reached the Spinal Tap era of my illustrious musical career. I have gone through yet another drummer. But it's not my fault....i've been blessed with playing with some really, really fantastic drummers, so the bar is set pretty high. While the antics of your typical bar band drummer is enough to keep most people happy, after spending 6 years with MPC i'm not settling for just another bar band drummer. Dedication to actually learn songs and a will to actually be better at your craft isn't really too much to ask in theory is it? Although I guess I do have to take some of the blame..."I want my oompa, loompa now daddy!!!" to quote a great line from a great movie. Oh well, the search continues. Stacy Bugg's EGO has struck again.
March 6th....What's Up Folks? It's been three days since the first round of the Telegraph Encore Superstar competition and all I have to say is. I love my friends. Each and every one of them. While there were some stand out performances this night, including a guy who sang Mustang Sally and made it his own, and a young lady who sang Tracy Bonham's 'Mother, Mother' and i believed her when she screached "everything's fine", there were some performances where you have to question the loyalty of the friends of the performers. If while their friend was warming up dog's started to howl, they should have said something. If their ears started to bleed in the car on the way over cause their friend was trying AND FAILING to sing along with Paula Cole, they really should have said something. If they lost consciousness while their friend was practicing scales, they should have said something. Some of the performers were really let down by their friends. And to there friends I say, SHAME ON YOU!!! And to my friends I say thank you. Thank you for not letting me embarass myself in public, on videotape and on film for the whole city to see.........except for that one time, remember, I had that hat on, and there was that goat, and someone said I bet you won't........ahhhhh, if you were there, you remember.
Feb 14th...Happy Hallmark marketing day boys and girls. What I really want to know is.....ARE YOU SOUTHERN NH'S NEWEST SINGING SENSATION??? goto http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/superstar for more info on the Nashua Telegraph's vocal competition
February 9th....I'm looking for a drummer in my band. My guitarist has been patient with me while we audition people...some have been good, the majority...not so good. So to help people figure out how good they should be in order to come audition, here's a link to #1 fillin drummer, my good friend Mr. Charles Davis. YOU MUST BE THIS GOOD TO COME AUDITION. or pretty damn close or you're wasting both of our time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Mx0lPE3ovw&feature=related. Oh and to answer your question, I can't pay Charles enough to become my full time drummer..that's why i'm looking.
February 7th. I heard somewhere that chicks dig scars. Thank god for that cause i'm gonna have a big ol' one on my neck. Of course, being the slightly creative guy i am i've come up with 3 answers that i'm gonna give if someone asks about the scar. One....I got it saving a bus full of nuns from a swarm of wilderbeast in downtown South Central Billerica. Two-THE VOICES MADE ME DO IT!! OR 3--all i can say is.......Scot Baio. I am bored out of my mind sitting around the house. Thanks to 99% of you who contacted me with well wishes and death threats, I do appreciate it. I haven't tried singing yet, probably not for a couple of weeks, so I can't tell ya if my voice sucks like it did before, or sucks worse, I can tell ya that i think i'm pretty current on everything that has happened on the tv shows House, CSI Miami, Burn Notice, CSI, South Park, Family Guy and NCIS for the last 54 seasons. If you need me to i'll fill ya in. Thanks to Matt and the folks at work who offered to send me a fruit basket.....I have to ask though does it look like I eat alot of fruit?? AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Oh well, the recuperation continues. I'll be in touch.
January 22nd, I was recently told that I don't talk alot. I guess they didn't bring up a subject I cared about. One subject i'd like to talk about is drinking and driving. Although I love when you come to my shows and have a great time, please practice moderation or find a designated driver, i would hate for you to be like one of the 2 people i saw today riding their bikes to work. It's just so damn!! cold and you'd be out there on your huffy, hoping your chain doesn't brake and your brakes don't fail. So please don't drink and drive. Thanks.
January 19th. 11 days and counting folks. People keep asking me if i'm nervous and the answer is no. I JUST WANT THE F'ING THING DONE WITH SO I CAN GET ON WITH MY LIFE....OR NOT. Wow!! Sorry, I didn't mean to use caps on ya. lol. I'd like to thank those of you who made it out to Mickey Doyle's on Friday, not a bad turnout out for -300 degree night. I even got to meet the world famous Mickey Doyle for the first time so that was a treat. It turns out that not only was that the last chance to hear me and my old voice sing for a while, but it was also the last time you could catch drummer Luis Rios as a member of the band. Luis is a great guy and i'm sure he'll be hitting the stage with another band shortly. I hope your new year is kickin' ass for you. Stacy
January 13th is finally here. I would first off like to thank all of you who showed up at Boomerangs. Nice to know that a little snow won't stand in the way of you having a good time. For those present i'm sure you were very entertained, and those who chose to stay home you missed a hell of a show. Not just from the band, but from the couple who danced all night....at least I think that was dancing, i've been in fist fights that were less violent, but when the lady went to the restroom, the guy's feet just couldn't be held back, to the beat of the Michael Jackson song, Billy Jean, this guy girated and thrusted, leapt and lunged, even broke out a little robot, circa 1985, just watching him gave me a slight case of scholiosis. Oh and the troopers of the night award goes to the leggy blond in her knit dress that barely covered anything. I can only guess you had on an electric thong to keep you warm cuz the smallest gust of wind had access to all your business. I know the group of guys next to you didn't mind, bassed on the number of drinks that kept materializing on your table, but damn...that's got to be dangerous. Do they make a chap stick for that....hmmmmm I wonder. As usual the banded sounded great, the room was packed and best of all the club owner was happy. So Thanks for everyone's support and we'll see you soon....In fact real soon, Friday Night at Mickey Doyle's in Lowell, MA.
January 2nd and all is well. So like most of you I have decided to drop an lb. or 50 this year so I de-assed myself from the couch, threw on my ASICS and headed to the gym. Not a bad workout for a fat guy. And I know that women don't find judgemental people attractive, but I can't help but judge some people. "WHY IS THAT STACY???" I'm glad you asked, and may I say that's a lovely sweater you're wearing. There was this cardio challenged individual, with a $200 warm up suit, I can only assume equally expensive running shoes and their expensive gym membership, who happened to be arriving at the gym at the same time I was leaving. As I was getting situated I watched this spectacular individual do at least 4 laps around the parking lot trying to find the a spot closest to the door. Like taking the extra 15 or 20 strides across the parking from a spot farther away would throw off their peak caloric burning potential. I mean you're at the gym to work out, use the walk from the car to the door as a warm up or something ya jackass. I'm pretty sure they saw me looking in the mirror and laughing at them. And just to continue spreading my brand of holiday cheer, I didn't pull out of the spot until my song was over.......and after they completed lap 5. Evil Empire is a great album. SB
Happy New Year Everyone. Have you made your resolutions. I have a few. This year i'm not gonna die from thyroid surgery. This year i'm gonna spend more time rehearsing than playing scrabble. This year I will increase my funkiness by 10%. And finally this year, I will write more of my "thoughts" here, I realize I have kinda dropped the ball on that this past year. Not that much gigging going on so I haven't been out and about as much. That will change. I hope everyone's NYE celebration went well, I hope your hangovers don't last that long, I hope my people who thrive on other folks misfortune get exactly what's coming to them, and I hope to see you all at our upcoming gigs January 10th at Boomerangs and January 16th at Mickey Doyle's. See ya there. Stacy
November 24, 2008
Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to support the band at our last 2 gigs. The first, up at Uncle Eddies on Salisbury, MA and then just over a week ago at Mickey Doyle's in Lowell.
They like us enough that we'll be back at Mickey Doyle's in January. Thanks to Diane for taking some pics of the band
.

October 11, 2008
Man Oh!! Man it felt good to be back on stage last night. Thanks to all my friends and enemies who made the trek up to the Dover Brick House to check me out while I was sitting in with my friends Tammy and Mike Miles of Rude Toys in their new project, RAISING SCARLETT. For the first time in years I was actually late to the gig, blown headlight. I managed to make it to WalMart to get a new bulb and...check this out, I replaced it myself without losing a finger, starting a fire or getting arrested.
Being back on stage felt good and i'm excited about the progress my band is making. We should be on stage making a joyful noise in a month or so so stay tuned.
later...me.
September 21, 2008
Sorry ladies!!!!! I have received numerous emails from fans of my new guitarist chastising me for spelling his last name wrong. To those ladies and to Greg, I apologize. Ladies and Gentlemen my new guitarist is Greg Girardin. Rehearsals are going great we're about a week or two from being ready to hit the stage so start saving your pennies.
SB
September 8th 2008.
I think if we're lucky all of us have people pass through our lives who will forever help change the direction it takes, either by just a little...like a cop who doesn't give you a ticket when you we're doing 90 in a 55, or a whole hell of a lot, like a guitarist/musician who became a friend and shared the stage with you on 100's of gigs throughout the New England area. A man who with a kind word or gentle smile could keep you from flying off the handle...which i've been known to do 6 or 7 times. I'm happy to publically congratulate my friends Everett and Amy Pendleton on the birth of their daughter. I wish them all the luck in the world.
September 4th
OK, so I was all excited to announce my triumphant return to the stage, studio and airwaves after a short hiatus. I had auditioned an additional guitarist, Greg Gerarden, and his bombastic style was something I thought would go well with the restrained, precise guitar styling of Andrew my current guitarist. Well after one rehearsal, lasting a whole hour and a half, Andrew decided that he didn't want to share the guitar spotlight with Greg and left the band. Andrew is a nice guy who was kind enough to learn some songs for me so I could fulfill a few gigs associated with the release of my latest CD, so for that I thank him. But leaving after only one rehearsal, wtf, almost as bad as the time I was fired as a band manager via...note, lol.
Anywho, please prepare your self for the guitar and vocal stylings of my new guitarist Greg Gerarden. He's so new I don't know if he's got a website or not. But I know he's got CD's for sale...as do I. So save your pennies we'll be around real soon, we're 3 rehearsals in and he's got the set half down, adding harmonies and an exciting, agressive guitar approach that should really help bring the set to life. Stay posted.
